Team Time Trial #1

A solid first effort.  Max led the way for the boys in 11:44, followed by Keaton in 11:49.  Becky ran comfortable splits of 6:35 and 6:00 for a relaxed 12:35 to lead the girls. Caleb Sawyer set a massive 2 mile PR of 14:38 which included a mile PR of 7:11 on the second mile today.  Great job Team! Full results will be posted tomorrow.

The weather was very cooperative, with temperatures of 83 degrees at start time. This allowed some pretty decent times from our new runners and allowed the more experienced runners to start to transition back into some more race type efforts.  Nobody was all out today, so we should see some pretty nice improvements in 2 weeks.

I am now announcing the team competitions for the next time trial.

Our next time trial will be run as an inter-squad meet.  Coach K and I will split up the team based on ability level.  When we run the next time trial, we will be rewarding the winning team with ice cold Gatorade after the run.

We will have a second, and perhaps more important competition.  The one boy and one girl who shows the most improvement from time trial #1 to time trial #2 will also be rewarded with a nice cold Gatorade.   Winning an intersquad meet is nice, but showing improvement as a runner is even better.  Let's have a great next two weeks of training and get ready to roll.

P.S I also find it quite funny that 83 degrees is cooperative!

  3. The temperature is usually 15-20 degress hotter for the early time trials. 83 and some kids are wanting to put on a sweater.

  4. It's 15-20 colder than 83 at this time in the year in Britain! Today the highest it will get is 66 degrees, and we consider this good weather :)
