CIF State Championship Stats

So...You want to be State Champions? Well here is a statistical breakdown of the past 13 years of Division 4 state meets.

Sheet 1 contains the stats for the team Champions.
Sheet 2 has the stats for the 3rd place team (the top 3 teams get on the medal podium).
Sheet 3 contains the stats for the 10th place team.

Top 10 finishes are still quite an acomplishment, so I've included that stat as well. There is one more important fact about top 10 finishes. Each year, the state re-distributes state meet berths based on how many teams from each section have finished in the top. The Sac-Joaquin Section lost berths a decade or so ago, but recent top 10 finishes by SJS teams on the boys side have brought a berth back to our section.

Special Note:  Starting in 2014 the enrolment cap for D4 schools has been higher, resulting in larger schools competing in D4 and team times that are much faster than the average from before 2014. If you really want to place high these days, you need to see what has been happening since 2014
