How to WIN races

California State Track Championships were last night.  It was a fantastic meet, as always.  The 2 3200m races were won in entirely different fashions, but each strategy worked for the kid who employed it.

Strategy #1 - Hang around until late in the race then kick like hell Boys 3200 winner, Callum Bolger of San Luis Obispo  8:53 with a last lap of 55 seconds!

Strategy #2 - Go from the gun and run the legs off of the rest of the field.  When you have two runners that are almost equal in superior talent and training and both trying the same strategy, the result could be a National 2 Mile Record

Both strategies require you to be fit and confident in your abilities.  I don't care how fast you are, sprint wise, you won't close in 55 in a fast race if you aren't super fit.

I don't care how fit you are, but you won't run away from a quality field unless you are confident.

Fitness and confidence come from thousands and thousands of training miles, tempo runs, intervals, and core.  Let's get fit and do great this year.
