Time Trial #2....One for the decade!

In 2003, our varsity boys won the Section D4 crown by 50 points over runner up Colfax.  That year, at the pre-season time trial, the boys top 5 ran a team time of 55:10.  For the last 8 years, the closest any team has come to the 2003 squad was last year's group, who put up a team time of just over 58 minutes.  That was until this year.  This year's group ran the following.

Ian Brooks 10:39
Adam Lundell 11:02
Keaton Crowder 11:14
Mason Deal 11:22
Zach Morrett 11:25

The total team time for this year's top 5 was 55:41, 31 seconds slower than 2003, but definitely in the same league.

This is extra impressive because Pablo and Leo didn't run today, due to nagging injuries and Keaton was slowed by a large blister on the arch of his foot.  Once everyone is healty, our boys will be very, very formidable.

Perhaps an even bigger surprise was our girls performance.  We have been battling all kinds of little aches and pains since day one of practice and still ran no where near full strength today.  Despite that fact, our girls were still able to post the second fastest team time in my Hughson coaching tenure.

The girls put up a team time of 73:25 with contributions from new and returning runners. The top 5 were:

Becky Hobby 12:02
Tasha Spears 14:53
Kaitlynn Daugherty 14:58
Juliette Guliacci 15:25
Karissa Swick 16:07

All these times were accomplished with the thermometer reading 97 degrees.
